SAN BANCHO GALLERY is pleased to present a special exhibition featuring new works by Saki Ishita, an artist known for her botanical paintings, alongside works by other female artists who also use "plants" as their motif.

Plants grow upwards, reaching for the sunlight. To extend upwards and bloom beautifully, they need strong roots.

This exhibition, titled "Take Root," aims to showcase foundational works by female artists such as Yayoi Kusama, representing the root portion of their artistic journeys, as well as the foundational pieces of Saki Ishita.

We warmly invite you to visit and appreciate this unique collection.

Choi Eun-hyea & Jeong Kwang-bok Exhibition
July 1 (Mon) - 14 (Sun), 2024
11:00 AM - 6:30 PM, Open every day during the exhibition
Closing at 4:00 PM on final day

We are pleased to announce the exhibition "east window," showcasing the works of two Korean artists, starting from July 1st.

This exhibition explores the Eastern philosophy that values the unseen world, using windows as a starting point to express this concept.

Choi Eun-hyea creates landscape paintings using slightly faded, soft intermediate colors, combining hues and shapes collected from the interplay between visual experience and memory. Her subjective memory world, depicted through scenes observed from curtains or airplane windows, evokes a sense of nostalgia in the viewer.

Jeong Kwang-bok, on the other hand, produces paintings featuring windows that open and close with hinges, employing traditional Eastern lacquer painting techniques. By utilizing the transparent medium of lacquer, he aims to emphasize the Eastern philosophy that values the unseen world, and expresses his hope for a more open window into the Eastern world.

We hope you will take this rare and valuable opportunity to view their works in Japan.
